Sunday Solemn Vespers, Benediction to begin in October at D.C. Oratory

The Oratorian Fathers of the Community of St. Philip Neri, currently in formation at Washington’s St. Thomas Apostle Church, have announced that the Community will begin celebrating Solemn Vespers and Benediction on Sunday afternoons beginning in October.

Vespers, the evening prayer of the Church’s Divine Office, will begin each Sunday at 4:00 pm beginning on Sunday, October 5.  The service is sung entirely in Gregorian chant; those interested in participating are encouraged to assist in the preparation of the music beginning at 3:30 pm.

St. Thomas Apostle Church is located at 2665 Woodley Road in Woodley Park.

Monthly Solemn High Mass to resume Sunday at Old St. Mary’s

A Solemn High Mass will be offered at Washington’s St. Mary Mother of God Church (“Old St. Mary’s”) at 5:00 pm on Sunday, September 14, for the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

St. Mary Mother of God Church is located at 727 Fifth Street NW in Chinatown.  Solemn High Mass is offered at Old St. Mary’s at 5:00 pm on the second Sunday of each month from September through June in addition to the weekly Sunday morning 9:00 am Mass.

Fr. McDonell to offer Sunday Traditional Mass at Silver Spring

A Low Mass will be offered this Sunday, September 14, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland. Father Clint McDonell of the Archdiocese of Detroit will be the celebrant of the Mass of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Holy Mass will begin at 8:00 am.  Confessions will be heard from 7:30 to 7:55 am.  There will be a second collection to benefit the Catholic University of America.

Silver Spring TLM Congregation meets at the Historic Church of St. John the Evangelist, 9700 Rosensteel Avenue, Forest Glen.

Georgetown TLM scheduled Friday at Copley Crypt

The Georgetown Traditional Latin Mass Community announces that a Missa Cantata will be offered Friday, September 12, at 6:00 p.m. in Copley Crypt Chapel at Georgetown University.  Father Stephen Fields, S.J., will be the celebrant of the Mass of the Feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary.

Copley Crypt is located in the rear of Copley Hall, directly north of Healy Hall on the main campus of Georgetown University, 3700 O Street NW, Washington.

Monday, Saturday TLM to be offered at Annandale St. Michael

The Traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form) will be offered on Monday and Saturday of this week at St. Michael Church, 7401 St. Michael’s Lane, Annandale, by parochial vicar Father Richard Carr.

On Monday, September 8, Low Mass of the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be offered at 7:15 am.  On Saturday, September 13, Low Mass of Saturday of Our Lady will be offered at 7:00 am.

Msgr. Olszyk to be celebrant, then honoree at Silver Spring TLM

A Missa Cantata with choir will be offered on Sunday, September 7, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland. Monsignor Thomas Olszyk of the Diocese of Milwaukee, formerly Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese of the Military Services, will be the celebrant of the Mass of the 13th Sunday after Pentecost. Holy Mass will begin at 8:00 am; Confessions will be heard from 7:30 to 7:55 am.

Silver Spring TLM Congregation meets at the Historic Church of St. John the Evangelist, 9700 Rosensteel Avenue, Forest Glen.  After this Sunday’s Mass, all of the congregation are invited to gather at the Knights of Columbus Hall across the street from the Church for their Sunday breakfast, where there will be a special cake and celebration for Msgr. Olszyk and his service to the congregation for the past eight years. The price of the Knights of Columbus breakfast buffet is $9 per person age 11 years and up, $5 per child age 4-10, and $2 per child under age 4.

 

Friday evening TLM, Adoration announced at Benedict St. Francis

A Traditional Latin Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church in Benedict, Maryland, at 8:00 pm on Friday, September 5, followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This Mass has been added to our seven-day calendar.

St. Francis de Sales Church is located in Charles County, Maryland, approximately 45 minutes to an hour from the Capital Beltway via Maryland Routes 5 and 231, and offers ample free parking.

Our Lady’s Center schedules Tuesday evening TLM, potluck

On Tuesday, September 9, at 6:30 pm, a Missa Cantata will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Joseph Langan, recently ordained for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, at Our Lady’s Center, 3301 Rogers Avenue, Ellicott City.  A potluck dinner will follow in the Center’s conference room.

Upper M’boro Assumption to inaugurate First Friday Traditional Mass

The parish of St. Mary of the Assumption in Upper Marlboro has announced that a Traditional Latin Mass will be offered at 7:30 pm on the First Friday of each month beginning this Friday, September 5. These Masses will be added to our seven-day calendar.

St. Mary of the Assumption Parish is located at 14908 Main Street, near the junction of Main Street (Maryland Highway 725) and Old Largo Road (Maryland Highway 202) in downtown Upper Marlboro.
