Three Christmastide Traditional Masses to be offered by Fr. Carr

The Traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form) will be offered at the following times on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of this week by Reverend Father Richard Carr at St. Michael Church, 7401 St. Michael’s Lane, Annandale.

  • Friday, January 1, noon
    Octave of Christmas — Circumcision of Our Lord
    The faithful are reminded that January 1 is a Holy Day of Obligation. Attendance at Mass is required of all Catholics on this day unless lawfully impeded.
  • Saturday, January 2, 10:00 am
    Immaculate Heart of Mary

Fr. Sanderfoot to offer Nativity Octave TLM Friday morning at Silver Spring

A Low Mass will be offered Friday morning, January 1, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland.  The celebrant of the Mass of the Octave of the Nativity of Our Lord will be Reverend Father Brian Sanderfoot, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church in Northeast Washington.

Holy Mass will begin at 8:00 am.  Confessions will be heard from 7:30 to 7:55 am.

Our Lady’s Center schedules Tuesday evening TLM, potluck

On Tuesday, December 29, at 6:30 pm, a Low Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady’s Center, 3301 Rogers Avenue, Ellicott City, Maryland. A potluck dinner will follow in the Center’s conference room. Everyone is invited to attend.

Reverend Father Marc Lanoue, chaplain of Johns Hopkins Medicine and pastor of the Church of St. John the Evangelist in Severna Park, will be the celebrant. This Mass is being added to our seven-day schedule.

No TLM to be offered Sunday at Silver Spring; Sunday TLM to resume next week

In the absence of an available celebrant, no Mass will be offered Sunday, December 27, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland. Please consult our seven-day schedule for other Traditional Masses to be offered in the Washington, D.C., area.

Sunday Traditional Mass at Silver Spring will resume on January 3.

Fr. Sanderfoot to celebrate Christmas TLM at Silver Spring

A Low Mass will be offered Friday morning, December 25, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland. Reverend Father Brian Sanderfoot, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church in Washington, will celebrate the Christmas Mass at Dawn.  The Mass will be accompanied by Christmas carols.

Holy Mass will begin at 8:00 am.  Confessions will be heard from 7:30 to 7:55 am.

Benedict St. Francis sets Christmas Eve and midnight Mass events

A catered community dinner will be held at the parish hall of St. Francis de Sales Church on Benedict Avenue in Benedict, Maryland, at 8:00 pm on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, for those who may be alone at Christmas or are struggling financially. Anyone wishing to attend may contact the parish pastor, Reverend Father Kevin Cusick, in advance on 301-274-3416 to make reservations.

At midnight, a parish Missa Cantata for the Nativity of the Lord will be offered. This Mass has been added to our seven-day schedule. The sung Traditional Latin Mass will be immediately preceded by carols at 11:30 pm.

Following the Mass, a potluck breakfast will be served in the church hall. Those planning to attend are asked to call Pam on 301-884-8869 and let her know what they plan to bring.

St. Francis de Sales Church is located in Charles County about 45 minutes to an hour south of the Capital Beltway (I-95/495). Established in 1903, the parish has offered the Traditional Latin Mass every Sunday since the first Sunday of Advent 1989.

Fr. Czarnota to offer TLM Sunday at Silver Spring

A Low Mass will be offered Sunday, December 20, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland.  The celebrant of the Mass of the Fourth Sunday of Advent will be Rev. Paul Czarnota of the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Holy Mass will begin at 8:00 am.  Confessions will be heard from 7:30 to 7:55 am.

Fr. Carr to offer Traditional Mass this Wednesday, Saturday

The Traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form) will be offered on Wednesday and Saturday mornings of this week by Reverend Father Richard Carr at St. Michael Church, 7401 St. Michael’s Lane, Annandale.

On Wednesday, December 16, at 7:00 am, Low Mass of Ember Wednesday in Advent will be offered. Low Mass of Ember Saturday in Advent will be offered on Saturday, December 19, at 6:50 am; note the earlier time because of extra readings for Ember Saturday.

Missa Cantata set for Friday evening at Alexandria St. Mary

On Friday evening, December 18, Missa Cantata of Ember Friday in Advent will be offered at 7:30 pm at historic St. Mary Church in Alexandria. Reverend Father James Bradley of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham will be the celebrant. There will be a reception following the Mass, which has been added to our seven-day schedule.

St. Mary Church is located at 310 South Royal Street in Old Town Alexandria.

Thursday evening TLM scheduled at Fairfax St. Leo

The Traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form) will be celebrated at St. Leo the Great Church in Fairfax at 7:00 pm on Thursday evening, December 17. This Mass has been added to our seven-day schedule.

St. Leo the Great Church is located at 3700 Old Lee Highway, between U.S. Route 50 and Main Street in Fairfax. Ample free parking is available.
