Wednesday evening TLM, devotions set at Benedict St. Francis

A Traditional Latin Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Father Kevin Cusick at St. Francis de Sales Church in Benedict, Maryland, at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening, January 20.

Mass will be preceded at 6:00 pm by Eucharistic Adoration and confessions. After Mass, novena devotions to St. Peregrine, patron saint of cancer sufferers, will be held, including healing prayers and veneration of the saint’s relic. This Mass has been added to our seven-day calendar.

St. Francis de Sales Church is located in Charles County, Maryland, approximately 45 minutes to an hour from the Capital Beltway via Maryland Routes 5 and 231, and offers ample free parking.

Georgetown TLM Community releases Spring 2016 schedule of Masses

The Georgetown Traditional Latin Mass Community has released its schedule of Masses for the Spring 2016 semester.  All Masses will be offered on Friday evenings at 6:00 pm beginning this Friday, January 22, and will be accompanied by a Gregorian student schola.

Masses will be offered on the following Fridays.

  • January 22: Votive Mass for Peace
  • January 29: St. Francis de Sales, Bishop, Confessor, and Doctor of the Church
  • February 19: Ember Friday in Lent
  • February 26: Friday of the Second Week in Lent
  • March 18: St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Confessor (Vigil Mass)
  • April 8: Easter Weekday or Votive Mass
  • April 22: Easter Weekday or Votive Mass
  • May 6: Easter Weekday or Votive Mass of the Sacred Heart

All Masses are offered in Copley Crypt Chapel of the North American Martyrs, located at the rear of Copley Hall directly north of Healy Hall on the main campus of Georgetown University, 3700 O Street NW, Washington.

Fr. Carr to offer Traditional Mass on Saturday morning

The Traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form) will be offered this Saturday by Reverend Father Richard Carr at St. Michael Church, 7401 St. Michael’s Lane, Annandale. On Saturday morning, January 23, Mass of the Feast of St. Raymond of Peñafort will be offered at 7:00 am.

Fourth annual Nellie Gray Mass headlines list of pro-life TLMs on January 22

The Paulus Institute will sponsor the fourth annual Nellie Gray Mass at 4:00 pm on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Washington’s St. Mary Mother of God Church, which was the late Miss Gray’s place of Sunday worship. Friday afternoon’s Mass for the intentions of the unborn, on whose behalf Miss Gray worked tirelessly until her death in 2012, will come at the conclusion of the annual March for Life in Washington. The Most Reverend Edward J. Slattery, Bishop of Tulsa, will offer a pontifical Solemn High Mass from the faldstool.

St. Mary Mother of God Church is located at 727 Fifth Street NW in Chinatown. This Mass, as well as other local pro-life Masses on January 22, has been added to our seven-day schedule. Additional Masses in observance of the annual March for Life can also be found on the Juventutem DC Facebook page.

Fr. Markey to offer TLM Sunday at Silver Spring

A Low Mass will be offered Sunday, January 17, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland.  The celebrant of the Mass of the Second Sunday after the Epiphany will be Reverend Father Greg Markey of the Diocese of Bridgeport.

Holy Mass will begin at 8:00 am.  Confessions will be heard from 7:30 to 7:55 am. A second collection will be taken up for Church missions in the United States.

Benedict St. Francis sets Epiphany Mass, devotions

A sung Traditional Latin Mass for the Epiphany will be offered at St. Francis de Sales Church in Benedict, Maryland, at 7:00 pm this Wednesday evening, January 6. Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will precede Mass beginning at 6:00 pm. After Mass, the St. Peregrine healing novena prayers will be said.

St. Francis de Sales Church is located in Charles County about 45 minutes to an hour south of the Capital Beltway (I-95/495). Established in 1903, the parish has offered the Traditional Latin Mass every Sunday since the first Sunday of Advent 1989.

St. Thomas Apostle, home of Sunday EF Vespers, to offer Missa Solemnis for Epiphany

A Solemn High Mass will be offered for the Feast of the Epiphany at 7:00 pm this Wednesday evening, January 6, at Washington’s St. Thomas Apostle Church. Once a holy day of obligation in the United States, Epiphany celebrates the discovery of the Christ Child by the Magi and is the traditional close of the season of Christmastide in the Roman Catholic Church.

Every Sunday at 4:00 pm, the office of Vespers is celebrated at St. Thomas Apostle by the Oratorian Community of St. Philip Neri according to the 1961 Roman Breviary. The service, sung entirely in Gregorian chant, is one of the few weekly public celebrations of the traditional Office on the Eastern Seaboard. Everyone interested in participating is encouraged to assist in the preparation of the music beginning at 3:30 pm. After Vespers, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed briefly for adoration and Benediction.
