Fr. Bisig to celebrate Solemn High Mass this Sunday at Gainesville Holy Trinity

Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form for the Fourth Sunday after Easter will be offered at 12:30 pm this Sunday, April 29, at Holy Trinity Church, 8213 Linton Hall Road, Gainesville, Virginia. Celebrant of the Mass will be Reverend Father Josef Bisig fssp, co-founder and first superior of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter. Gregorian chant and polyphony will be provided by the Holy Trinity schola.

After Mass, Fr. Bisig will give a talk at 2:00 in which he will recount the events and personalities leading up to the issuance of the encyclical Ecclesia Dei by Pope St. John Paul II in 1988, which helped to establish the Fraternity and paved the way for the issuance of Summorum Pontificum by Pope Benedict XVI in 2007. Both the Mass and Fr. Bisig’s talk are open to all who wish to attend.

Holy Trinity Church is located in Prince William County, Virginia, about four and a half miles south of the intersection of Interstate 66 and U.S. Route 29. Ample free parking is available.

Archbishop Sample to celebrate Summorum Pontificum Mass Saturday at Washington’s National Shrine

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA Pontifical Solemn High Mass commemorating the tenth anniversary of Pope Benedict XVI’s motu proprio Summorum Pontificum will be offered at 1:00 pm this Saturday afternoon, April 28, 2018, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington.

Archbishop SampleCelebrant of the Mass will be His Excellency Alexander Sample, Archbishop of Portland. The Basilica choir will sing Missa Salve Regina by Victoria as the ordinary of the Mass, and several Renaissance polyphony motets by Palestrina, Ugolini, Monteverdi, Clemens, Manchicourt and Marenzio. Propers of the Mass will be sung by the Saint Mary Mother of God schola from Washington. Several preludes will be sung by guest choirs, including one from the Lyceum School in South Euclid, Ohio, and another choir from Saint John the Baptist Church in Allentown, N.J.

April 28’s solemn pontifical Mass will be the second such Mass in the upper church since 1969. It will be a votive Mass commemorating the Immaculate Heart of Mary, in the basilica dedicated to Our Lady. No tickets will be required to attend the Mass, which will also be broadcast worldwide on EWTN.

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is located at 400 Michigan Avenue NE in Washington. Ample free parking is available in the parking lot across Harewood Road NE. Metrorail service is available at the Brookland/CUA stop on the Red Line.

Missa Solemnis for Easter Thursday set at Clifton St. Andrew

A Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form will be celebrated at 7:00 pm on Easter Thursday evening, April 5, at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Clifton, Virginia.
