Fr. Thompson to offer TLM this Sunday morning at Silver Spring

A Low Mass will be offered this Sunday, December 17, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland. Reverend Father D. B. Thompson of the Diocese of Lake Charles will be the celebrant of the Mass of the Third Sunday of Advent. This Mass has been added to our seven-day schedule.

Holy Mass will begin at 8:00 am. Confessions will be heard from 7:15 to 7:45 am. A second collection will be taken up for Christmas flowers and decorations for Old St. John’s Church. Instead of the usual coffee and pastries after Mass, all are invited to the bake sale of Our Lady Queen of Poland Parish in the rectory basement.

Rorate Mass to be offered this Saturday morning at Baltimore St. Alphonsus

wp-1449967152122Continuing the restoration of an Advent tradition that had fallen into disuse after Vatican II with the abandonment of the Traditional Latin Mass, a candlelit Rorate Mass will be offered at 6:30 am this coming Saturday morning, December 16, at the National Shrine of St. Alphonsus in Baltimore.

Because no interior lighting other than candles will be in use during the Mass, those interested in the day’s Lesson and Gospel are advised to review them beforehand. A donation page has been set up on the Shrine’s website for those wishing to contribute candles for the Mass. After the Rorate Mass, there will be a potluck meal in the church basement.

The Shrine is located at 114 West Saratoga Street in downtown Baltimore. Street parking will be available; no parking-meter fees are charged before 8:00 am.

Fr. Carr to offer TLM this Thursday, Saturday

Low Mass in the Extraordinary Form will be offered on Thursday and Saturday mornings of this week by Reverend Father Richard Carr at St. Michael Church, 7401 St. Michael’s Lane, Annandale.

On Thursday morning, December 7, Mass of the Feast of St. Ambrose will be offered at 6:45 am. A ferial Mass of Advent will be offered at 7:00 am on Saturday morning, December 9.

Missa Cantata set for Friday evening at Alexandria St. Mary

On Friday evening, December 18, Missa Cantata of Ember Friday in Advent will be offered at 7:30 pm at historic St. Mary Church in Alexandria. Reverend Father James Bradley of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham will be the celebrant. There will be a reception following the Mass, which has been added to our seven-day schedule.

St. Mary Church is located at 310 South Royal Street in Old Town Alexandria.

Fr. Tunink to offer Missa Cantata at Silver Spring

A Missa Cantata with choir will be offered this Sunday morning, December 13, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland. The celebrant of the Mass of the Third Sunday of Advent will be Reverend Father Shawn Tunink of the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas.

Holy Mass will begin at 8:00 am.  Confessions will be heard from 7:30 to 7:55 am. A second collection will be taken up for the Retirement Fund for Religious; checks may be made payable to Our Lady Queen of Poland Parish.

The Traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form) for the Vigil of the Nativity of the Lord will be offered at 7:00 am on Wednesday, December 24, by Father Richard Carr at St. Michael Church, 7401 St. Michael’s Lane, Annandale.

Fr. Logan to offer Sunday TLM at Silver Spring

A Low Mass will be offered December 21 at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland.  Reverend Aidan Logan OCSO, Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of the Military Services, will celebrate the Mass of the Fourth Sunday of Advent.

Holy Mass will begin at 8:00 am.  Confessions will be heard from 7:30 to 7:55 am.  After Mass, in place of the customary refreshments in the church hall next door, there will be a bake sale to benefit Our Lady Queen of Poland Parish, to which all TLM attendees are invited.

A Missa Cantata with choir will be offered this Sunday, December 14, at the Traditional Latin Mass Congregation of Silver Spring, Maryland. Reverend Clint McDonell of the Archdiocese of Detroit will be the celebrant of the Mass of the Third Sunday of Advent (Gaudete Sunday).
