Fifth annual Nellie Gray Mass set at Chinatown Old St. Mary’s

The Paulus Institute will sponsor the fifth annual Nellie Gray Mass at 3:00 pm this Friday, January 27, 2017, at Washington’s St. Mary Mother of God Church, which was the late Miss Gray’s place of Sunday worship. Friday afternoon’s Mass will come at the conclusion of the annual March for Life in Washington. This Mass is being added to our seven-day schedule.

Reverend Father Paul Scalia of the Diocese of Arlington will offer a Solemn High Mass of the Holy Innocents. Also participating in the votive Mass for the unborn, in whose defense Miss Gray worked tirelessly for many years until her death in 2012, will be deacon Reverend Father Luke Melcher of the Diocese of Alexandria, Louisiana, and subdeacon Reverend Father Ernest Cibelli, Administrator of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hagerstown, Maryland. Choral accompaniment will be provided by the Vox in Rama Choir from the Church of the Holy Innocents in New York City.

Missa Solemnis for Feast of St. Dominic set at Clifton St. Andrew

A Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form will be celebrated at 7:00 pm this Thursday evening, August 4, at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Clifton, Virginia. Parochial vicar Reverend Father Joseph Bergida will be the celebrant of the Mass of the Feast of St. Dominic. Father Bergida will be assisted by Reverend Father Christopher Mould, pastor of St. Andrew’s, as deacon, and Reverend Father Paul Scalia, Bishop’s Delegate for Clergy in the Diocese of Arlington, as subdeacon.

Holy Mass will be preceded by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament beginning at 5:30 pm, followed by Rosary, Novena and Benediction beginning at 6:30 pm. Confession will be available from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Adoration will continue after Mass from 8:30 to 9:00 pm.

Enrollment in the Angelic Warfare Confraternity, a Dominican apostolate devoted to purity and chastity, will be offered at 8:30 pm in the St. Padre Pio Room.

St. Andrew the Apostle Church is located just north of Compton Road (Virginia State Route 658) about a mile east of Centreville Road (Virginia State Route 28). Ample free parking is available.

Holy Comforter-St. Cyprian announces Transfiguration TLM

A Solemn High Mass in observance of the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord will be celebrated at Washington’s Holy Comforter-St. Cyprian Church this coming Thursday evening, August 6, at 7:30 pm. Reverend Father James Bradley of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham will be the celebrant of the Mass, assisted by deacon Reverend Father Paul Scalia of the Diocese of Arlington and subdeacon Reverend Father Daniel Richards of the Diocese of Harrisburg.

Both propers and Ordinary will be sung in Gregorian chant. This Mass has been added to our seven-day schedule.

The Most Reverend Thomas John Paprocki, Bishop of Springfield in Illinois, will offer a pontifical Solemn High Mass of the Holy Innocents from the faldstool. Also participating in the votive Mass for the unborn, in whose defense Miss Gray worked tirelessly for many years until her death in 2012, will be assistant priest Reverend Father John Zuhlsdorf, deacon Reverend Monsignor Charles Pope, and subdeacon Reverend Father Paul Scalia. Choral accompaniment will be provided by The Schola Cantorum from The Lyceum School of South Euclid, Ohio.

Fr. Scalia to celebrate EF Vespers, Benediction at Alexandria St. Mary

On Sunday, March 30 (Laetare Sunday), at historic St. Mary Church in Alexandria, Father Paul Scalia, bishop’s delegate for clergy of the Diocese of Arlington, will be the celebrant for Solemn Vespers in the Extraordinary Form and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament at 7:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
