Corpus Christi Mass, devotions set for Thursday at Benedict St. Francis de Sales

A Solemn High Mass and eucharistic devotions will be celebrated this Thursday, May 31, at St. Francis de Sales Church in Benedict, Maryland.

Eucharistic Adoration will begin at 9:00 am Thursday morning and continue throughout the day, including a Holy Hour of Reparation at noon. A Solemn High Mass will be celebrated at 6:00 pm, followed at 7:15 pm with a Eucharistic procession through the town of Benedict and concluding with Benediction and Reposition of the Blessed Sacrament at 8:00 pm.

St. Philomena feast to be celebrated at Benedict St. Francis

On Thursday evening, August 11, at 7:00 pm, a Traditional Latin Mass will be offered at St. Francis de Sales Church in Benedict, Maryland, in observance of the feast of St. Philomena, Virgin and Martyr. Called the Thaumaturge or Wonder-Worker of God by Pope Gregory XVI, St. Philomena was credited by St. Jean Vianney with the accomplishment of his own miracles.

Reverend Father Thomas LaHood, pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, will celebrate the Mass, which will be followed by novena devotions and veneration of St. Philomena’s relic in the Church. The evening will conclude with a Neapolitan feast in the Church Hall.

Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will precede Mass beginning at 6:00 pm. After Mass, the St. Peregrine healing novena prayers will be said.
